Buckle up! February's forward focus is moving us in a new direction and waking us up to our true potential.

Can you feel the electric energy in the air? That’s the sun’s recent move into the constellation of the bohemian water bearer. On January 19th, we entered Aquarius season and woke up our inner rebel with a cause. This February, we'll be focused on community, collective healing and manifesting our wildest dreams.

As the nonconformist, activist and freedom-seeker of the zodiac, Aquarius is on a mission to speak up for the underdog—which is absolutely needed after the turbulence of January. You can expect the Aquas in your life to be particularly passionate about the human rights and economic issues impacting society right now, so don't be surprised if they invite you to participate in a political rally or fundraising event. Over the next few weeks, your offbeat Aquarian friends are the ones you'll want to turn to for guidance, thanks to their ability to see the future, generate progressive ideas and bring groups of people together to create positive change.

Check out February's key dates for more astrological info about the upcoming month:

February 4—Venus Enters Aries:

Just in time for Valentine's Day, the love planet starts a brand new cycle in energetic Aries, where it will ultimately stay until June 6th. This unusually long transit for Venus (due to its retrograde movement from March 1st to April 12th) is giving us an opportunity to work on the relationship we have with ourselves. The month of February is a great time to improve your self esteem, take your fitness routine to the next level or boost your confidence with a makeover. Coupled people wall aim to dazzle their partners with the new and improved version of themselves, while single individuals are likely to find love at the gym, since Venus in Aries loves to break a sweat.

February 4—Jupiter Direct in Gemini:

Adding some positive fuel to February's fiery Venus transit, is wise Jupiter moving direct in sociable Gemini. Over the past 4 months, we've been reflecting on our thought processes, communication habits and social media use and (hopefully) we've learned how to be more mindful communicators. Now's the time to integrate this wisdom and express greater social grace within our relationships and online communities. And if you've been wanting to expand your social network, this is a great time to attend local meetups or connect with new people through online classes.

February 12—Full Moon in Leo:

February's full snow moon is offering us an opportunity to warm our hearts and put a spotlight on joy. If your Valentine's Day plans feel like they're falling a bit flat this year, then get together with your favourite people or pamper yourself on this special day. With its opposition to Mercury in Aquarius and square to Aquarius' ruling planet, Uranus, this full moon is likely to coincide with shocking news on the global stage, so it's an important reminder to check your perspective, and focus on creating a better world within yourself.

February 14—Mercury Enters Pisces:

This Valentine's Day might feel extra sentimental thanks to mental Mercury entering creative, daydreamy Pisces. Skip the flowers and chocolates and write a poem, compose a love song or make a photo book for the people you cherish the most. And don’t be surprised if your intuition and dreams are quite strong over the next few weeks; you may want to take the opportunity to start a dream journal to uncover the messages you’re receiving from the universe or your subconscious mind.

February 18—Sun Enters Pisces:

As the Sun shifts into imaginative Pisces, we’ll be inspired to be more in touch with our emotions and create art that heals. If you're an artist, let your feelings flow deeply into visual art or music. For those less artsy, pour some energy into crafting, journaling or by picking some tarot cards and seeing what emotions arise. After the community-oriented focus of Aquarius season, the Sun in Pisces encourages us to expand further, to the universal and cosmic energies around us. The next 4 weeks is meant to be a time of deep introspection, so make sure to carve out some time for rest and reflection.

February 23—Mars Goes Direct in Cancer:

We can breathe a collective sigh of relief as active Mars finally moves forward in sensitive Cancer after being retrograde since December 6th. After months of emotional processing, any problems related to home and family can finally move forward with greater focus, confidence and speed. While Mars retrograde has been frustrating and exhausting, we now have a greater understanding of our triggers and how to respond to them in healthier ways. We're also clearer about what motivates us and can muster up the courage to cut away obstacles and uncover a more direct path towards our goals.

February 27—New Moon in Pisces:

We close out February with a magical new moon in Pisces, which invites us to set intentions around our spiritual practice and charitable activities. How can you connect more deeply with spirit or lend a helping hand to the disadvantaged? With this new moon making a positive connection to Mars in Cancer, you may be inspired to strengthen your intuition through meditation or donate to a worthwhile cause. Just be mindful of this lunation's challenging aspect to Jupiter in Gemini, which is a warning about overloading your mind with a long to-do list. Keep your intentions simple at this time and remember that it's important to make space for rest during Pisces season.
